Glo Donut

A Glo Donut store has finally opened in my neighborhood. Located in Geomdan New Town, I had heard rumors that people wait in line to get Glo Donuts, so I decided to visit around noon on a Saturday. On top of that, I had been seeing a lot of buzz on social media about Glo Donut emerging as a hot dessert trend.

Since Geomdan New Town is still under development, I was not sure about the parking situation, so I decided it would be too much trouble to bring my child along. I sent the kid off to art class and headed straight to Geomdan New Town. I also made sure to check the business hours and location in advance before visiting.

Just as I had expected, parking was quite difficult in Geomdan New Town. Cement mixer trucks and freight trucks had taken over the roads, and in a state of mild panic, I managed to find parking quite far from the Glo Donut shop. It appeared that the parking infrastructure had not yet been fully established due to ongoing new town development.

I found the Glo Donut shop by following a map, and the location was easy to find. The Glo Donut shop has an orange sign that stands out from far away. Additionally, there were other shops nearby, which made it relatively easy to locate.

Upon entering the Glo Donut shop, I could see people lined up at the kiosk to place their orders. It was clear that the place is very popular.

For reference, the Glo Donut shop in Geomdan New Town is a bit small. It is great for takeout, but with only two tables inside, eating there felt a bit cramped given how many customers were around. It seemed like the shop is primarily set up for takeout.

Glo Donut also sells coffee and beverages. I would love to come back and try ordering a drink to pair with the donuts. Looking at the menu, there appear to be a variety of drink options available.

That just goes to show how popular the Glo Donut milk cream donut really is. It seems that the kiosk system reflects inventory in real time, which is why situations like this happen.

Since the milk cream donut was sold out, I ended up ordering several other varieties: vanilla custard donut, tiramisu 43 donut, cinnamon sugar ring donut, choco fudge donut, and glazed ring donut. I was looking forward to the unique toppings and flavors that each donut would offer.

Next time I visit, I definitely plan to try the milk cream donut.

Looking at other blog posts, it seems like almost everyone automatically goes for the milk cream donut. I really want to give it a try myself. I also learned that the milk cream donut has become Glo Donut's signature menu item.

Glo Donut operates on a same-day production, same-day sales policy. So if a donut sells out on a given day, you have to come back the next day to get it.

From a consumer's perspective, same-day production means you get to enjoy fresh donuts, which is a real plus. This approach to operations also reflects Glo Donut's philosophy of quality control.

Since I personally love custard, let me share my thoughts on the vanilla custard donut: it was filled with an ample amount of custard cream to the point where the cream was practically flowing out.

The flavor was not overly sweet but just the right level of sweetness. The dough itself had a soft yet chewy texture that was quite impressive.

I felt like I was eating something handmade, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The taste was clearly differentiated from mass-produced donuts.

Next, I tried the tiramisu 43 donut. It was not extraordinary, but since it is such an unusual concept as a tiramisu donut, I found it quite satisfying.

Honestly, after eating two donuts I was already quite full, but I had a small taste of the glazed ring donut. The tiramisu donut is known for having a subtle coffee flavor, which is one of its defining characteristics.

Personally, I think Krispy Kreme's glaze is still the top choice for glazed donuts. That said, Glo Donut's glazed ring donut had its own charm.

The remaining cinnamon sugar ring donut, choco fudge donut, and half of the glazed ring donut went straight into the refrigerator.

The next day, I tried the leftover Glo Donuts from the fridge, and they were just as delicious. Being same-day production donuts, it seems they retain their freshness even into the next day.

Given the nature of donuts, I imagine Glo Donuts are quite high in calories. They say delicious food has zero calories, but if you are mindful of your health, eating three at a time might be a bit much, so I recommend enjoying them in moderation. It is said that enjoying sweets in reasonable amounts is the key to making them a lasting pleasure.
