How to Cancel Melon Membership - Subscription Cancellation and Account Deletion

A detailed guide on how to cancel your Melon subscription, delete your account, and understand the refund policy.

Canceling a Melon subscription and withdrawing your membership are two different things. Canceling the subscription leaves your account intact, while withdrawing your membership deletes all data including playlists.

1. Subscription Cancellation

Website:

  1. Log in to Melon (melon.com)
  2. Click "My Info" at the top
  3. Go to "Subscription/Payment" menu
  4. Click "Cancel Subscription" button
  5. Select a cancellation reason and confirm

App:

  1. Open the Melon app
  2. My Music > Settings (gear icon)
  3. Subscription Management
  4. Request cancellation

※ You can still use the service for the remaining paid period after cancellation

2. Auto-Payment Cancellation

Credit card auto-payment:

  • Automatically cancelled when you cancel the subscription above

Mobile micro-payment:

  1. Call your carrier's customer service
  2. Request "Melon auto-payment cancellation"
  3. Complete identity verification and cancel

App store subscription:

  • iOS: Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > Melon > Cancel Subscription
  • Android: Play Store > Payments & Subscriptions > Melon > Cancel

3. Account Withdrawal (Account Deletion)

Warning: All playlists, library, and listening history will be deleted!

  1. Log in to the Melon website
  2. My Info > Edit Profile
  3. Click "Withdraw Membership" at the bottom
  4. Select a withdrawal reason
  5. Enter your password
  6. Withdrawal complete

※ If you have a remaining subscription, you must cancel it first ※ Re-registration is not allowed for 7 days after withdrawal

4. Refund Policy

  • Within 7 days of payment + unused: Full refund available
  • Already used: No refund
  • Promotional/discounted subscriptions: No refund
  • Refund inquiries: Melon Customer Center 1566-7727

Additional Tips

  • Playlist backup: Export to Excel is available (web only)
  • Check your last billing date before canceling to avoid losing money
  • Compare alternative services (FLO, YouTube Music) before withdrawing
  • For family memberships, only the primary account holder can cancel
